End users reach for open source, thanks to Firefox

Open Source has been around for quite some time. Groups such as Mozilla proudly shunned end users from their products at first, proclaiming that it was for developers and not end users. There has been an about face ever since Firefox (Phoenix) came onto the scene.

Firefox is the first piece of software that has gotten end users to actually choose open source over pre-installed software - ever. The project leads and the foundation both should be proud of the accomplishments on this endeavor.

The most important aspect of this needs to be fostered as Spread Firefox is trying to do. Users need to be led to the understanding that this Mozilla / Firefox download is not your typical shareware download. It will take some time, but the project is well on it’s way to illustrating that.
